One of the easiest ways to preserve your vehicle's appearance and value is to remove and repair any and all unwanted dings and dents. Most day-day dents, dings and scrapes are usually very minor and can be fixed for under $100. Repairing minor dings and dents will maintain your vehicle's value, especially if you are considering selling or trading in your vehicle.
The repair cost depends on the extent of the damage. A small dent that doesn’t usually require repainting or touching up the vehicle's paint.
What causes dings, dents and scrapes?
• Tight Parking Spaces (Car Doors): Always maintain ample space between you and the other park vehicle.
• Grocery Shopping Carts: Avoid parking on incline since grocery shopping carts can roll with enough momentum to hit your car and create a dent or ding.
• Inclement Weather: Wind can cause damage by flying debris. Hailstorms can also cause dent and dings.
• Road Debris: Try and avoid, if possible driving on gravel roads or roads under construction. Also, make sure there is enough room between you and the vehicle in front of you. Debris in the road that is "kicked-up" by the vehicle in front of you can be damaging to your vehicle.
• Falling Objects: During inclement weather, when possible refrain from parking underneath trees as small branches can break off and damage your vehicle.
